Sri Lanka is a paradise for trekking and/or hiking. The most impressive locations can be found in the hill country with its tea plantations, rain and cloud forests, spice gardens, waterfalls, streams; not to mention the spectacular views and interesting wildlife.

Since the best trekking sites in Sri Lanka are situated in different areas in the Island we have compiled this exclusive trekking package for you. Visiting a different trekking site every day. Please note, the accommodation for this tour is in typical small places, such as Guest Houses, Rest Houses etc.
On request, we can alternatively arrange camping accommodation or tree houses in some locations.

You will be traveling by 4-wheel drive Jeep and at every location a local trekking guide will accompany you on your walks.

Day 1 : We will meet you at the Colombo International Airport or your hotel (optional), and proceed to Raththota ( Matale ), our first destination. En-route we will be visiting the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where abandoned Baby Elephants are being fed and trained. A great experience!
Dinner and overnight at the RATHTHOTA LONGVILLE* in Matale.
Day 2 : After breakfast you go for a 6 km walk with unforgettable views of the beautiful, untouched Knuckles Mountain Range, looming 1863 meters above Dumbarawawe. A whole range of beautiful landscapes awaits the adventurous. From there your driver will take you to Mahiyangana.
Dinner and overnight at SORABORA GEDARA HOTEL* in Mahiyangana.
Day 3 : In the morning you'll trek the 12 km to a Veddha Village and spend the day with the aborigines. According to the genesis chronicle of the majority Sinhala people, the Mahavamsa, the Pulindas believed to refer to Veddas are descended from Prince Vijaya, the founding father of the Sinhalese nation, through Kuveni, a woman of the indigenous Yakkha he married. The Mahavansa relates that following the repudiation of Kuveni by Vijaya, in favour of a Kshatriya-caste princess from Pandya, their two children, a boy and a girl, departed to the region of Sumanakuta (Adam's Peak in the Ratnapura District), where they multiplied, giving rise to the Veddas. In the evening you'll walk back to Mahiyangana.
Dinner and overnight at SORABORA GEDARA HOTEL* in Mahiyangana.
Day 4 : After breakfast you will embark on a 2 km trek to Badulla. Badulla is located 60 km southeast of Kandy, almost encircled by the Badulu Oya (River), about 680 metres (2200 ft) above sea level and is surrounded by picturesque hills and mountains, most of which have tea plantations. Here you will visit the Dunhida waterfall. In the afternoon you can relax or engage in one of the many activities offered at the Ella Adventure Park. Arial rope , slithering rope, monkey rope, toddy tapping.
Overnight at the Camping site ( either eco lodge or tents ) of the ELLA ADVENTURE PARK HOTEL.

Day 5 : You will start the day with another 10 km walk to another waterfall, the Diyaluma Waterfall. Diyaluma is often rated as Sri Lanka's highest
water falls, upstaging the Bambarakanda Falls. It is 13 km from Wellawaya town and 6 km from Koslanda in the hills and like a soft veil, is seen from the Balangoda-Wellawaya highway too. Legend says that Gods, seeing the heartbreak of a prince whose runaway romance ended in the death of his sweetheart, created this beautiful cascade to weep his tears and pain forever into the wilderness. From Ella you'll be trekking alomng the Railway Track to Bandarawela, from where we'll transfer by Jeep to Adam's Peak / Dalhousie. After dinner at your guest house in Dalhousie you'll start preparing for your midnight climb of Adams Peak.
The majority of climbers begin their ascent at night in order to arrive at the top in time for a magical sunrise when the mystical shadow of the peak is perfectly cast across the clouds. It is one of those truly unique moments that will live on in your memory long after the aches and pains from the climb have gone! However its' possible only from Full Moon day of December to Full Moon Day of May. During other you have the option of doing a day climb and stay at the peak till the sunrise.
Adam's Peak has a great significance for different religions. The huge footprint at the summit is believed by Buddhists to be that of Lord Buddha (Sri Pada), whilst Christians suggest that it was where Adam first set foot on earth, and Hindus claim that it belongs to Lord Shiva. As a result, the peak has been a pilgrimage centre for over 1000 years. Whatever its religious significance, this famous landmark offers some breathtaking views of the hill country. The majority of climbers begin their ascent at night in order to arrive at the top in time for a magical sunrise when the mystical shadow of the peak is perfectly cast across the clouds. It is one of those truly unique moments that will live on in your memory long after the aches and pains from the climb have gone!
You will spend the rest of the night at the peak to witness the sunrise after which you will decend back to Dalhousie. (You are climbing from the southern side of the mountain and descending to the northern side of the mountain)
Day 6 :After breakfast and an opportunity to relax after your climb up Adam's Peak, we'll visit in the afternoon some tea plantations where you can not only enjoy a number of short walks in the middle of the famous Ceylon Tea bushes but this is also an ideal opportunity for you to learn the total process of making tea first hand. From there we proceed to the Sinharaja Rain Forest.
Dinner and overnight at MARTIN’S LODGE*.
Day 7 : The program of the day is a full day trek though the Sinharaja Rain Forest. Since it is a rain forest you can expect some light rain almost every afternoon. It is a blessing that the Sinharaja Rain Forest does not offer the prestige animal spotting facilities of some of the other reserves or national parks (e.g. Yala), therefor it is a unique experience to be on your own in the thick of the rain forest without seeing or hearing any tour buses or Safari Jeeps. The animals you can see include sambhur, barking deer, mongoose and the golden palm civet; the purple-faced leaf monkey is common. Although leopard tracks have been seen frequently, it is much more difficult to sight than many of the other animals. Birds include some rare endemic such as red-faced malkoha, Sri Lanka blue magpie, and the white-headed starling and plenty of others including orange minivets, orioles and babblers. Reptiles include the endemic Green pit viper and the Hump-nosed viper.
Dinner and overnight at MARTIN’S LODGE*.
Day 8 : After an early breakfast you'll start your walk through picturesque, little local villages until you reach Akuressa. Your driver will pick you up there and transfer you to the beach resort of Mirissa on Sri Lanka's South Coast.
Dinner and overnight at PARADISE BEACH CLUB.
Day 9 : Transfer back to the airport or any other destination (optional). If you want to spend some more days on the beach, please let us know. We can offer you many good and affordable hotels and guesthouses all along the South Coast.
