Unawatuna PADI Dive Package (6d / 5n)
You can find good diving all around Sri Lanka since the island essentially sits atop a huge sandbank that drops 3000 m into deep ocean. This drop-off is anything from 1 km to 10 km offshore. Close in you usually find shallow sand or rock bottoms, but in places, especially on the south coast, you can also dive on walls and drop-offs. Because you're seldom far from deep water, opportunities for encounters with pelagics, sharks and other inhabitants of the open ocean abound.
Unawatuna Beach is protected by coral reefs and safe swimming, wreck & reef diving and some surf points are making this South Coast village a more and more popular travel destination. You can enjoy a perfect dive from mid October to end of April. During the rest of the year the sea is too rough quite frequently, and the visibility under water isn't good enough. Swimming though can be enjoyed - also by your kids! - throughout the year because a reef is keeping the high waves off the Unawatuna bay.

Tropical variety
The underwater world in this part of Sri Lanka is particularly diverse and interesting. In the 28° C water you'll see large schools of brightly colored tropical fish around you and meet an occasional tortoise.
Interesting wrecks
One outstanding feature are the wrecks that can be found on the sea floor in our area. A very special diving adventure.
